Priority and Express are paid upgrades for everyone, including Japanese Wine Co. Loyalists — the included-shipping benefit applies to Standard delivery only. Priority/Express to Alaska are available on request.
Become a Japanese Wine Co. Loyalist and Standard Shipping is included on every full-case (12+) order — your case can be any mix of wines (Alaska excluded). See “Subscribe & Save” below.
❄️ Summer Wine Protection (May–September)
When it’s hot, your wine ships in a temperature-controlled, recycled-foam cooler with ice bricks. It’s added automatically to Standard and Priority shipments on warm-weather routes. The fee is charged once per shipment (not per bottle), based on how many bottles are in the box:
| Bottles in the shipment | Protection (per shipment) |
|---|---|
| 1–2 bottles | $6 |
| 3–6 bottles | $12 |
| 7–12 bottles (includes a full case) | $18 |
| Full case (12+) — Japanese Wine Co. Loyalist (full-case subscriber) | $0 (included) |
Orders larger than 12 bottles ship in more than one cooler, so protection applies per cooler (for example, 24 bottles = two coolers = $36).
Choosing Express (overnight)? No cold-pack fee. Your wine spends just one day in transit, so the overnight speed is the protection — there’s nothing extra to add. On the hottest routes, Express is the safest choice.

How does Kazumi Napa Valley Cabernet compare to other Napa Cabernets?
Where many Napa Cabs chase sheer power, Kazumi's leans elegant and balanced — rich and deeply layered, with ripe, silky tannins and a long, refined finish rather than heavy extraction.
Think Napa richness with restraint and harmony. Critics agree: 94 points (The Wine Palate) and 91 points (Jeb Dunnuck).
What food does Kazumi Cabernet pair well with?
Built for rich, savory dishes. A few we love:
- Grilled wagyu or a dry-aged ribeye — 和牛のグリル/熟成リブアイ — silky tannins meet the marbling beautifully.
- Miso-glazed short ribs — 牛カルビの味噌焼き — the wine's dark fruit and cocoa play off the umami glaze.
- Rack of lamb with cracked black pepper — ラムラックの黒胡椒ロースト — echoing the wine's peppery edge.
- Aged hard cheeses — 熟成ハードチーズ — a simple, classic close.
Yakiniku (焼肉) and soy-glazed mushrooms (きのこの醤油焼き) are excellent too.
How should I serve it?
Serve at 60–65°F (16–18°C) — cool room temperature, not warm — in a large-bowl Cabernet glass.
Decant for 30–60 minutes; the aromatics and silky tannins really bloom with a little air.
Should I drink Kazumi Napa Valley Cabernet now, or can I cellar it?
Both. At 14% with ripe, silky tannins, it's approachable now — just give it a decant.
But this is a structured, age-worthy Napa Cab (18 months in new French oak), so it will also reward cellaring 5–10 years, deepening into cocoa, tobacco, and dried-fruit complexity.
Store it cool, dark, and on its side.
Does Kazumi Napa Valley Cabernet come in a half bottle?
Kazumi Cabernet is available in the standard 750 ml bottle only.
(Looking for a smaller format? Our Kazumi Koshu comes in a 375 ml half-bottle.)
What makes a Japanese winery's Napa Cabernet distinctive?
Kazumi brings a distinctly Japanese sensibility to Napa Cabernet — the same spirit of harmony and beauty (和美) behind the name.
The goal is balance and precision over brute force: a powerful Napa Cab made with restraint and elegance, meant to complement a meal rather than overwhelm it.
Who is Kazumi Wine?
Kazumi Wine is a Napa Valley winery led by proprietor Michelle Kazumi Sakazaki — and the first and only producer in the United States growing and crafting Koshu, Japan's signature white grape.
The name is her own: in Japanese, Kazumi (和美) joins 和 (kazu, "harmony") and 美 (mi, "beauty") — the spirit behind a wine made to be enjoyed in the company of family, friends, and a good meal.
By bringing Koshu to California, Kazumi Wine creates a rare bridge between Japanese tradition and Napa terroir, earning acclaim like 94 points for its Napa Valley Koshu.
If you're interested, we wrote a whole article about Kazumi on our Journal here:

Japanese wine is defined by balance, precision, and quiet elegance. Shaped by unique climates and careful craftsmanship, each bottle reflects a deep respect for harmony—never overpowering, always refined.
It’s not just wine.
It’s a way to experience Japan through taste.

AROMA / FLAVOR NOTES
- It pairs beautifully with steak, grilled lamb, roast beef, braised short ribs, and aged cheeses, as well as Japanese dishes like wagyu, yakiniku, miso-glazed meats, and soy-based mushroom dishes.
TASTE PROFILE
With expressive aromas of violet, plum, currant, and blackberry, this Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon feels rich, polished, and deeply layered. Subtle notes of black pepper, tobacco leaf, and cocoa add complexity, while ripe silky tannins and vibrant acidity carry the wine into a long, elegant finish.
